If we cannot see it…

This is up for debate in today’s city council meeting. Proving once again the old belief what you cannot see, cannot exist, and cannot hurt you.

Mayor and Members of City Council City of Lethbridge

Dear Sirs and Madams,

My name is Angela Piche, I am a mother of two. I am requesting to address council as soon as possible in regards to changing legislation in respects to what businesses are allowed to display openly in their windows.

My reasons for this are within the last few weeks I have been driving by an adult store in the north side of town and on most occasions the displays they have are of very graphic nature. Not Just as a mother but also as a concerned citizen I do not believe that all public needs to see such images. As a mother it is my responsibility to protect my children and I know I am not alone in feeling this way.

What I am looking for is only for a bylaw to be placed stating that stores of this nature have the blinds closed or shaded so people passing by cannot see the contents of inside the business. We do have some protection in place which enforces adult magazines from being displayed openly in stores, so what I feel I am asking for in not much different.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I really look forward to hearing from you.
