So crazy it just might work

Could we ever see politics like this in Lethbridge? A concerted effort to join forces with like-minded people to genuinely and effectively create change?

From the twitter feed:

NDP candidate quits: Endorses Liberal candidate in bid to unseat the Tories

“I want to make sure we get a progressive MP – one that cares about improvements to Canada Pension Plan, improvements to employment insurance, believes in democracy instead of contempt, and believes in sustainable job creation instead of building more prisons.”

Political genius or complete folly? Betrayal of his Dipper followers or offering a real alternative to anyone in the center-left political category?

Folly and idiocy. This makes me so angry. If I lived in this riding I would register a protest vote, or eat my ballot.

To be honest, I really can’t imagine too many places where this strategy would actually work. From both sides there is a lot of distrust, and I think any NDP supporters would find it difficult to switch to a Liberal vote and for any center-right Liberals, they might be turned off by the support of an NDP member.

I’ll be curious to see if it impacts voter turn-out.

That all being said, maybe these two wild and crazy guys are charismatic enough and good politicians they can actually make this work. Maybe… I’m just a big old softie at heart and love a good cooperation and support story.
